DJ Shoeshine's 15 Favourite Singles of 2005

and won't even include songs from his favourite albums. Prick!):

Favorite Album released this year: Nada Surf , "The Weight is a Gift"
I can't really comment on anything else. The only other new albums I
bought where Our Lady Peace's new one and Coldplay's. Both I like, but
neither are the respective bands' best work by any measure. So...
Biggest Disappointment: Weezer, "Make Believe". What the hell happened
here? I listened to the whole thing on MySpace, and I was saddened.
Probably be my favorite Weezer album in a couple months. That's the
kind of guy I am.
Favorite Single: Kanye West, "Gold Digger". Funny and punchy, both
lyrics and arrangement. I need that album.
Favorite Videogame: Resident Evil 4. The game came out at the beginning
of the year for Gamecube and at the end for PS2. Take your pick. I
can't stop playing the thing, and those who know me know I've got a lot
to choose from.
Movie: Go see King Kong. It's brilliant, came in late in the year, and
rules. I also really, REALLY liked Star Wars 3, but there's naysayers,
and it's way not-cool to like anything in the prequal trilogy. Well
screw that, I like all three of 'em. They're fun, popcorn poppin films,
and anyone who thinks they were ever or should ever be otherwise are
pretentious jerks that constantly forget how cool it is to be a kid.
Robot: Soul of Chogokin GX-04S: UFO Robot Grandizer. It's a re-release
of a die-cast metal toy that features four vehicular modifications that
fit on an 8-inch, metal robot figure that represents the pinnacle of
alien technology. Or something. Looks hella cool. Oh, and by the way
ladies...Sorry, I'm already spoken for.
Book: Donald Miller, "Searching for God Know's What". I really like Don
Miller. He's got a realistic view of the perils and pros of the modern
Christian who is unsatisfied with a nation that claims to believe in
Christ yet rallies behind a warmongering, hypocritical executive
branch. There are actually those of us who hold on to grace, knowing
full well that we have little room to seek a justice we would never wish
upon ourselves. So,...
That's it. Happy New Year!
